Web Development Intern

970 Design is a mountain design studio creating custom websites, branding, and product design for clients all over the country. Our motto is ‘We are a team of creative’s who guide passionate brands’. Who we want: 970 Design is recruiting smart, witty, and resourceful web developer interns for the summer. We are an active group that puts passion into everything we do. We are growing quickly, and want interns that compliment our enthusiasm and energy. The position will work closely with our web developers, project manager, creative director, and designers to help build beautiful websites. We work for clients ranging from restaurants, to large non-profits, to local outdoor and adventure brands around the Vail Valley. Development projects will include: PHP, HTML5, CSS3, SASS, WordPress and Drupal management, and Javascript (jQuery).

What you bring:

  • A passion for code and a desire to deepen you knowledge of web development.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite software
  • Basic knowledge of coding preferred (please let us know what code you are familiar with and what you would like to learn.)
  • Knowledge of usability and UX
  • Experience with LAMP preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to think dynamically and work independently
  • Pursuing a degree or just finished in Web Development, Information Technology or related field.
  • Love using a MAC
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Secondary Skills:

  • Must be willing to go rafting with staff
  • Eager to be outside and be on a mountain bike when not throwing your passion into the web world
  • Must have an equally quirky sense of humor to the rest of the team. We are serious about our jobs, but we are just as serious about having a great time.

Position Terms: July 1, 2016 — September 1, 2016 (flexible if needed)
Hours: 15-20 hours per week

Design Intern

“We are a team of creatives who guide passionate brands.” We’re looking for someone who feels the same way. As a member of our team you will work with our Designers, Creative Directors and Developers to hone your skills in the design world. Let’s be clear – we are a young company, we try to include incentives associated with a young and passionate company: energized staff, modern ambiance, flexible hours, accommodating powder days and creative visions of cutting-edge design and functionality. Though young, 970 Design is already serving a number of Vail’s most prestigious companies, as well as an impressive splash of clients from LA to NYC. We have numerous award-winning designs, and multiple exciting projects in the works (See our website for details). Quickly outgrowing our small biz britches, we’re in need of an intern who expresses out-of-the-box creativity; works well both independently and on a team; drives deliverables forward and takes on ownership of projects; proactively overcomes roadblocks and drives toward deadlines; follows through aggressively; double and triple checks work obsessively; communicates articulately; holds in their minds the big picture of the company and the brand; and has a deep love of being creative and loves being around the same.”


So what will you be doing?

  • Design Print & Digital collateral with the help and oversight of the team
  • Generating creative concepts for digital and print including advertising, catalogs, materials for events, packaging design, etc.
  • Be hands on from design through execution of materials with the oversight of designer
  • Website Populating 


You will need these skills:

  • Ninja Graphic Design Skills
  • Punctuality and deadline follow-through
  • Proficient in color theory, composition and typography
  • Organized mentality, able to keep google drive organized when working with client files
  • Ability to wear multiple hats and pivot depending on arising needs



We work Monday to Friday (although sometimes it is more and sometimes less). This position should take 20 to 30 hours per week. Initial pay will be hourly.
