The Brief

The mtn hive team came to 970 Design with a problem. Housing nation-wide is an issue, but nowhere more so than right here in the Eagle River Valley, where we call home.

Mtn hive also had the solution, build a modern coliving space with affordable housing for local Eagle County Residents. mtn hive is a housing collective, that is all about co-living. This would provide the valley with several hundred new homes. But they have and uphill battle, not only to build the space, but to win the hearts and minds of the local business and residents that call Edwards CO home.

They just needed a brand. 970 worked with the team to create a brand, brand strategy, content, and website, guided them on strategy to help introduce this concept to the community.

970 Design set out to create a brand that was modern and professional, but also friendly and fun. mtn hive needs a brand that connected with the potential residents that would live within the walls of mtn hive, but also needs to win over the minds of key people and businesses within the community.

We chose a hexagon shape, to play off the name, hive. it invokes a community, worker bee feel, without being childish or overly playful. The honeycomb shape worked well with the six pillars of the concept as well, each pillar and side working together equally to create a space where working community members can thrive.

Home. It’s not just four walls and a roof, it’s the foundation of your life, it creates an environment for you to thrive. It’s the first line on a job application and the last thing you want to worry about.

Mountain Hive provides a modern take on what home means in the Vail Valley. It helps solve the community need for more workforce housing while keeping up with modern trends. This coliving style concept gives young working professionals space to thrive.

Proposed in Edwards, the mtn hive takes the concept of coliving and applies it to the unique needs of Eagle County’s mountain resort residents. The project provides fully furnished private units with ample access to shared amenities and common spaces such as: a fitness center with classes, bike and ski storage with tuning spaces, curated lounges, a mini market, shared gourmet kitchens, a laundromat, and coworking nooks. The mtn hive will offer a community-oriented space to meet and interact with others who share a passion for the mountain lifestyle.
